Tourism is a major economic activity in the city, and spend 40 million tourists each year. There are the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Broadway productions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Garden. Other new attractions are four artificial waterfalls and impressive with a height of 30 meters. These artificial waterfalls are located in the East River and can be seen from land and ships.

Its location at the mouth of the Hudson River, which forms a naturally protected port and flows into the Atlantic Ocean, has helped the growth of the city and its importance as a trading city. Most of New York is built on three islands of Manhattan, Staten Island and Long Island, making the building land is scarce and causes a high population density.
